With the rise of COVID-19, there are some precautions that are taken that can be healthy for you and your family. The coronavirus disease affects the elderly and people who are immuno-compromised, which is why it’s important to boost your immune system. Here is how to boost your immune system with Ayurveda.

The holistic approach of Ayurveda will boost your immunity in a different way that is more than just taking an herbal supplement.

What are Ojas:

Ojas translates as vigor. This is a subtle essence of the Kapha dosha which is related to vigor and cohesiveness of your body. Ojas are also the end product of complete digestion. Hence, you only produce good ojas when you have good agni quality.

Your metabolism and ojas are some of the things that affect your immunity. According to Ayurveda, strong immunity is correlated to your Ojas, good Agni, good digestion, good liver function, and balanced endocrine systems. Hence, it’s important that you balance everything out to ensure that your immunity is strong.

Having a Supportive Diet:

Making sure your metabolic fire is strong is one way you can promote health throughout your whole body, this projects your ojas. If you’re new to this, we do suggest reading more on doshas and the different dietary requirements for each dosha.

Agni is strong when you maintain a regular schedule for eating, and when you know what diet you need to pacify your dosha. Another way you can strengthen your Agni is by including garlic into your diet. Garlic strengthens your Agni, helps maintain the normal temperature of the body, destroys natural toxins, supports the lungs, and clears excess moisture.

Promotion of Balanced Sleep:

Sleep is an important factor when it comes to your immunity. If you don’t get enough sleep, you compromise your immunity. There are studies that show a link between sleep deprivation and cancer, and a reduction in the ability of your immune system to delay the growth of cancer cells.

It is important that you get eight hours of sleep. If you are looking more into Ayurveda, there is a sleeping guide depending on your dosha regarding what time you should sleep, and how early you should wake up. However, if this is not your thing, then make sure you have a sleeping schedule to follow.

Adopting a Good Routine:

Our body is very used to and benefited by following a routine. Ayurveda highly recommends having a daily routine because it helps calm the nervous system and reduce stress. Making the smallest commitment to a routine helps reassure the nervous system that all is well, and there is nothing to worry about.

You don’t have to develop a complicated routine to get started. A simple way is just waking up the same time every day, eating on time, and going to bed at the same time, as well. Once you have adjusted to your routine, your body becomes stronger and healthier on its own, and you are actively maintaining health.
