When it comes to sugar, it adds so much sweetness to our lives however the downside is that it is addictive, can add weight to our mid-section, increase inflammation in the body and causes aging like you would not believe. If you have a particular liking to sugar or are flat out addicted to sugar then you will want to pay close attention to this:
You can conquer the need to fill your body with this stuff and still experience the sweetness that brings a smile to your face and a great feeling to the body without adding weight, inflammation or those dreaded peaks and crashes that sugar can bring. It’s all in the way that the sugar is delivered. Naturally occurring sugars in fruit, veggies and
even milk are not really something that you need to be worried about due to the fact that they usually come bundled with nutrients, fiber, vitamins, and antioxidant benefits, which does the body good. The added sugars and sweeteners in the processed food that have infiltrated our world is what you need to be worried about. Sweeteners in processed food that come in the disguise of corn syrup, high fructose or fake sugars definitely need your attention and deserve scrutiny. Sugar causes aging like you would not believe.
- Cut added sugar in half by stirring overripe banana or chopped dates into batters and doughs for quick bread, cookies, muffins, and pancakes.
- Balance the flavor of acidic tomato sauces by adding grated carrots, butternut squash, beets, or sweet potatoes. Beets, apples, and carrots work great to bring sweetness to smoothies and baked goods, too.
- Use unsweetened flaked or shredded coconut or coconut milk in cookies, oatmeal, and granola. Coconut has a natural sweetness and will help to keep the cravings for sugar at bay.
4. Take advantage of fruits that grow sweeter as they ripen, such as apples, apricots, avocados, bananas, cantaloupes, mangoes, nectarines, papayas, peaches, pears, and plums.
The sugar in them is natural and will not cause the peaks and valley in the bloodstream and are much easier for the body to process without adding additional pounds 5. Choose plain yogurts, Greek yogurts, and yogurts without any fruit in them as a treat. They are less tangy and need less sugar than the reduced fat options to taste good.
Besides, if you want a little extra sweetness you can add one of the fruits mentioned above to satisfy your sweet tooth. 6. Draw out the natural sugar in onions by cooking them on a low and slow heat to caramelize them and add them to burgers and other dishes to get the sweetness that you may desire.
